Sean Hannon is a bassist and composer who is inspired by visual and musical imagery. He draws from a range of musical/compositional influences from Ravel and Satie, to Miles Davis and Charlie Haden, to the more contemporary music of Justin Vernon and Radiohead; as well as non-musical influences such the visual art of impressionist painters, writings of Haruki Murakami, and sounds of the natural world.
In his own compositions, he attempts to provoke the imagery of different landscapes and environments as well as articulate the emotions that could be associated with these certain settings. The ending result is a synthesis of visual imagery and emotion expressed through musical composition and improvisation.
He is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
